Woodmen of the World’s Angie Schendt Selected for Omaha Jaycees’ 10 Outstanding Omahans Award

Omaha, Neb. – Angie Schendt,
Editor at Woodmen of the World, will be honored at the 80th Annual
TOYO (Ten Outstanding Young Omahans) Awards dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.

Since 1933, the Omaha Jaycees since have been honoring 10 men and
women between the ages of 21 and 40 each year who strive for excellence and
have a strong commitment to both community service and personal and
professional development.

“Angie’s invaluable contributions to the Omaha community and Woodmen of the World
serve as an inspiration for other young professionals. Her genuine commitment
to making a difference exemplifies what we are all about,” said Jill
Regester, Communications Manager at Woodmen of the World.

As Editor
at Woodmen of the World, Schendt is responsible for managing all aspects of
Woodmen of the World’s publications, including leading the production team,
setting editorial direction and editing content. She is also responsible for
content marketing through a variety of media. She is a member of the Public
Relations Society of America and her work has been recognized by PRSA Nebraska on
several occasions. Schendt is a 1994 graduate of Millard North. She earned her bachelor’s
degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999.

Schendt
is a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge 706 and is a Big Sister through Big
Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands.  She is on the leadership team for Woodmen of
the World’s Young Professionals Group and is a Sustainer in the Junior League
of Omaha. Schendt has served as the American Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator
for Woodmen Tower since 2004 and is a graduate of
ICAN’s Defining Leadership program. She is involved in bringing “Louder Than a
Bomb,” an organization which brings teens together for a friendly competition
involving poetry, oral story-telling, and hip-hop spoken word, to Omaha in 2012
and plans to promote its return in 2013.
