WoodmenLife Names Five Finalists in its $10,000 Community Champions Contest

Omaha, Neb.-based WoodmenLife, a champion of family, community, and country since 1890, today named five finalists in the Community Champions contest. Each of the five nonprofit finalists is in the running for a $6,000 Grand Prize donation to support community programs in their service areas. The five finalists are:
- Bridging the Gap in Newnan, Ga., which provides food, clothing, and household goods to residents who are struggling, along with shower and laundry facilities, case management, and referral services in Coweta County, Ga.
- Your Harvest House in Burleson, Texas, an organization that provides monthly food bundles, clothing, and housewares through its resale store, and one-time financial assistance for rent and utilities to individuals and families in Johnson and Tarrant County, Texas.
- Washington County Public Library in Chatom, Ala., whose two library locations offer reading programs, adult education classes, genealogy workshops, and other special events for residents of all ages.
- Friends of the Homeless Shelter in Kinston, N.C., which operates a 44-bed emergency shelter that provides temporary housing to transient, homeless, or displaced families and individuals in the Kinston area.
- Focus Marines Foundation in Ballwin, Mo., which equips post-9/11 military veterans coping with PTSD, addiction, and isolation, with the tools, peer support, and ongoing follow-up to help them rebuild purposeful lives after leaving the military.
A vote of the people will help determine the Grand Prize winner. The community is encouraged to learn more about the finalists, and vote for the most deserving organization by visiting WoodmenLife’s Facebook and Instagram channels or visiting the WoodmenLife Community Champions website. Voting is open until August 12.
WoodmenLife will select one $6,000 Grand Prize winner and four Finalists, who will each receive $1,000 donations. The selections will be announced on Facebook and Instagram on Saturday, August 29. Complete contest rules are available online.
