Arendell Parrott Academy Student Receives $20,000 Scholarship

Amy Edwards, a 2018 graduate of Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, NC was recently awarded a $20,000 WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship®. Edwards, who is a WoodmenLife member, submitted an application highlighting her high school grades, activities and volunteerism, as well as an essay on patriotism.

Amy, the daughter of David and Carol Edwards, is active not only at her high school, where she is involved in National Honor Society, Dance and is a Varsity Cheerleader, but also in her community, where she volunteers with the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program and Mary’s Soup Kitchen. She will be attending Campbell University next year, where she plans to major in Pharmacy and Spanish. Her family are members of WoodmenLife NC Chapter 449 in Merritt.

“I am extremely grateful for this scholarship,” said Edwards. “Education is very important to me, and I am thankful to WoodmenLife for the opportunity to pursue my pharmacy degree with this scholarship.”

The scholarship will be presented to Edwards at the Arendell Parrott Academy Awards Dinner at the school on May 31 at 6:00pm.

Dees. “WoodmenLife is thrilled to be able recognize that achievement and help Amy realize her dream of furthering her education with this scholarship program.”

The WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship Program is part of the organization’s member benefits. The program awards up to $1 million annually to members furthering their education in a two-year or four-year college, university or technical school. This year, WoodmenLife will award approximately 975 scholarships ranging from $500 to $25,000.
