Woodmen of the World Donates Scoreboard

MIDLAND, W. Va.– Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society will present a check for $8,888 to Cabell Midland High School during the Cabell Midland Knights game against Riverside on Friday, Sept. 17. The funds are earmarked for a new LED digital scoreboard for the school’s football stadium.

The formal presentation of the funds will be made during halftime by Larry King, Woodmen of the World’s Executive Vice President, Field. West Virginia State Manager Kevin Crouse and CMHS Athletic Director Jack DeFazio will also be present for the presentation and ceremony.

“Woodmen of the World’s support of our program in terms of time and resources has simply been phenomenal,” said DeFazio. “Especially in today’s day and age, when the cost of athletic programs keeps going up, it’s so important to find companies and people who are willing to share the cost so everyone in the community benefits.” According to DeFazio, he was “pleasantly shocked” by the timing of the new scoreboard installation. “It was definitely something that we needed and I’m happy it worked out at the same time we went from a grass field to a new artificial surface.”

The new CMHS scoreboard features new LED digital technology. It was installed Sept. 8 and used for the first time in the Midland Knights’ game Sept. 11 against Winfield High School. The Midland Knights won that contest 17-10.

Woodmen of the World is a strong supporter of area education and athletic programs. Last year, Woodmen of the World, helped install hallway television monitors in the Milton Middle School. DeFazio noted that Woodmen of the World has provided tailgating experiences for CMHS fans and team members, and will do so again this Friday, Sept. 17, when the Knights take on Riverside.
