WoodmenLife Tower Lighting Celebrates Thanksgiving

Omaha, Nebr. — The WoodmenLife Tower will be orange to tell Omaha and Council Bluffs happy Thanksgiving!

America has been celebrating this holiday since pre-colonial times, so there’s a lot to learn. Please take few minutes to savor these morsels or share them at your Thanksgiving feast. A big thank you to History.com for posting these:

  • Abraham Lincoln was the first president to declare a national Thanksgiving holiday, thanks in part to heavy lobbying by “Mary Had a Little Lamb” author Sarah Josepha Hale
  • Neither potatoes nor sweetened cranberry relish were at the first feasts
  • Football has been part of Thanksgiving since 1876, and the Macy’s parade has been a mainstay 1924

WoodmenLife will share this on social media with the hashtags #Thanksgiving and #LightWoodmenLifeTower.
