Woodmen of the World Recognized Again as an American Heart Association Start! Fit-Friendly Company

Companies take steps to decrease healthcare expenses, increase productivity

Omaha, Neb. – Woodmen of the World has been recognized for the fourth consecutive year as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company by the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative for helping employees eat better and move more.

“It’s a wonderful accomplishment for both Woodmen of the World and the associates to be recognized as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit Friendly Company,” said Karla Gochenour, Vice President of Human Resources. “We have worked hard to encourage positive changes through our wellness programs and winning this award shows that associates are taking advantage of these opportunities and are choosing to make Wellness a priority in their lives.”

Platinum-level employers:

  • Offer employees physical activity options in the workplace
  • Increase healthy eating options at the worksite
  • Promote a wellness culture in the workplace
  • Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness
