New Male Falcon at Woodmen Tower Nest
It’s a new falcon breeding season and with that a new male has shown up at the Woodmen Tower nest.
The unnamed falcon, (#19/K) was hatched on May 10, 2001 from a building in Des Moines, Iowa. He came from Lincoln, Neb., where he was atop the Nebraska State Capitol building from 2003 through 2013.
It's unknown what happened to Mintaka (#57/H), who was at the Tower for three years from 2012-2014 and had 13 offspring hatch.
This fight for territory pitted father vs. son. Mintaka hatched in Lincoln, Neb. in 2010 during the time the unnamed falcon (#19/K) was the breeding male.
Woodmen Tower Cameras
Remodeling work on the 28th floor of the Woodmen Tower has kept the falcon cameras offline since fall. Work has finished and the cameras should be operational again the first week of March. Just in time for a new season of FalconWatch.
