Covington, Georgia Shines Bright with National Project of the Year Recognition

WoodmenLife Chapter 2002 of Covington, GA, has been named the national recipient of the 2026 WoodmenLife Outstanding Project of the Year Award.   The chapter earned recognition for its impactful and inclusive holiday event that brought joy, connection, and meaningful experiences to families across the community.

The Outstanding Project of the Year Award recognizes a chapter service project that has made a significant impact in its community while exemplifying WoodmenLife’s Shared Commitment to family, community, country, and helping others.

The chapter hosted a completely free, large-scale Christmas-themed event designed to remove financial barriers and create a welcoming environment for families of all backgrounds. With an investment of approximately $3,000, Chapter 2002 funded food, supplies, decorations, and activity materials, while also partnering with community organizations and volunteers who contributed their time, services, and resources to expand the event’s reach and effectiveness.

The venue was transformed into a festive “Whoville” setting, offering a wide variety of activities, including photos with Santa and the Grinch, face painting, cookie decorating, crafts, coloring stations, and opportunities for children to write and deliver letters to Santa. The event created powerful, personal moments for families, particularly for children who benefited from the inclusive and positive environment.

The event also made a meaningful difference for families facing financial challenges, with some parents expressing gratitude for an experience they otherwise would not have been able to provide for their children. The results extended beyond the event itself, as several families stayed afterward to help clean up, demonstrating a strong sense of community and appreciation.

“This project is a powerful example of what happens when compassion, creativity, and community come together,” said Robby Molony, Vice President, Fraternal at WoodmenLife. “Chapter 2002 created more than just a holiday event — they created an environment where families felt welcomed, supported, and valued. Their efforts truly reflect the spirit of our mission and the impact we strive to make every day.”
