Board Names King Chairman, Gallion Retires

Omaha, Neb. – Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society has announced that Thomas T. Gallion III, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society will retire July 15, 2013. On that date, Woodmen of the World President and CEO Larry R.

King will be named Chairman, President and CEO.

Larry R. King is currently President and CEO at Woodmen of the World. King began his Woodmen of the World career as a Field Representative in Kentucky East in 1974 and was promoted to Area Manager in 1982. Recognized as one of the organization’s top sales producers for more than 30 years, King served as State Manager in both Tennessee and Georgia before joining the Home Office executive team. King graduated from the University of Kentucky and has a master’s degree from Morehead State University.

Gallion of Montgomery, Ala., is a partner in the law firm of Haskell Slaughter Young & Gallion, LLC. He has been a Woodmen of the World member since 1953, and was elected to the organization’s Board of Directors in 1988. A recipient of Woodmen of the World’s Meritorious Award Citation and a member of Montgomery Lodge 25, he has served in every local lodge office. In addition, Gallion has held several positions in Woodmen of the World’s Alabama Jurisdiction, including that of President from 1985-87. In 2011, he was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society.

Gallion graduated from the University of Alabama in 1965, and went on to attend the New York Institute of Finance in 1966. He worked as an investment banker for a short time, then returned to school and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Jones Law School in 1971.
