WoodmenLife Tower to Light Before Children’s Grief Awareness Day
Omaha, Nebr. — Tonight the WoodmenLife Tower will be blue on the eve of Children’s Grief Awareness Day.
The purpose of this day, the third Thursday each November since 2008, is to shine a light on the needs of grieving children and how they’re helped by the support of others. According to the Children’s Grief Awareness Day website, one in every 20 children will have a parent die before they graduate high school. That doesn’t include those who will experience the death of another close family member or friend in that time.
This lighting was requested by The Collective for Hope (Grief’s Journey, HEALing Embrace and Ted E. Bear Hollow), an Omaha nonprofit whose vision is to ensure no one has to grieve alone. It works to lead the response to loss, elevate the value of grief companionship and promote healthy survivorship. Please take a moment to learn more.
WoodmenLife will share this on social media with the hashtags #ChildrensGriefAwareness, #GriefsJourney, #ChildrenGrieve, #ChildrenGreiveToo, and #LightWoodmenLifeTower.
To see a schedule of upcoming tower lightings or to request one, visit the WoodmenLife Tower Lighting Partnership website. You can download a photo of the tower lit in blue at right.
