Woodmenlife Gives $4,000 to Classrooms in “America Is…” Video Contest

Omaha, Neb. – Three elementary school classrooms from across the nation have been selected as winners of WoodmenLife’s “America Is …” video contest.

The contest — which drew 25  entries — aimed to get elementary school students excited about history, and to show pride in their school, community and country. Students were asked to create 30–60 second videos on the topic “What America means to me” for the opportunity to win up to $2,500 for their school.

The contest was open to all elementary school classroom teachers, principals, other staff members and school-affiliated organizations. Winners were chosen by popular vote on WoodmenLife’s Facebook page. More than 10,000 votes were cast. Three prizes will be awarded:

• The first-place prize of $2,500 will be awarded to Brighton Elementary School 5^th Grade Class in Brighton, Tenn.
• The second-place prize of $1,500 will be awarded to Homer Elementary School 5^th Grade Class in Ada, Okla.
• The third place “Patriotic Prize Pack”—which includes one full-size American flag, 500 hand-held flags, 500 flag code booklets, 50 flag posters, and 500 presidential rulers—will be awarded to Chumuckla Elementary Video Club in Milton, Fla.
