Woodmen of the World to Celebrate 124 Years with LED Lightshow

Omaha, Neb. – In honor of Woodmen of the World’s 124th Anniversary, the Woodmen Tower invites Omahans to join in the festivities of an innovative LED light display. Starting at 10 p.m. on June 6, the Woodmen Tower will light up in color, movement and modulation to celebrate the founding of Woodmen of the World on June 6, 1890.

The Woodmen Tower recently installed a new LED lighting system that is energy efficient, cost efficient and provides a number of added unique benefits. The new system replaces the previous metal halide lighting system that has been in place for several years. LED lighting is considered a “greener” form of lighting, and will save energy and energy costs for Woodmen. The new system will also require less maintenance.

A positive byproduct of the new lighting system will allow for the light color to be easily changed. This will make it possible to illuminate the Woodmen Tower for special events and observations. “We’re excited that our inaugural use of the lighting system will be to celebrate our company’s anniversary and commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day,” said Steve McKern, Vice President, Administrative Services. “Tomorrow evening’s light show will be in keeping with our strong patriotic values.” McKern said guidelines regarding future lighting requests are currently being developed.
