WoodmenLife Tower to Light for Alpha-1 Awareness Month
Omaha, Nebr. – Tonight the WoodmenLife Tower will be purple for Alpha-1 Awareness Month.
November is Alpha-1 Awareness Month, and according to the Alpha-1 Foundation, it’s a time to learn about the most common known genetic risk factor for emphysema, a lung condition that causes shortness of breath. About one in every 2,500 Americans have Alpha-1. This month-long event is meant to help to bring awareness to family, friends, medical professionals, and others about this rare genetic disorder. Many people are participating in a virtual walk, and there’s a digital toolkit and awareness toolkit so people can be more informed.
WoodmenLife will share this on social media with the hashtags #Alpha1Awareness and #LightWoodmenLifeTower.
