WoodmenLife Sponsors Military Family Appreciation Night at the UNO Mavs Hockey Game

Join WoodmenLife on Saturday, Feb. 2, as members and associates honor our military and watch some serious hockey when the UNO Mavs take on Western Michigan. Puck drop is at 7:07 p.m.

Military personnel and their families sacrifice so much in support of our nation, so it’s only fitting to show how much we appreciate all they do. Active-duty personnel and veterans received free tickets to the games and will get complimentary gift bags as they enter the arena. Also happening that night:

  • The first 7,000 attendees will receive a hand-held flag.
  • WoodmenLife will provide a 30-by-60-foot American flag that UNO’s ROTC will present on the ice during the national anthem.
  • Fans can sign “Thank you” cards and letters, and children can color pictures, for care packages to be delivered to veterans homes and hospitals.
  • WoodmenLife will present a donation to the Kanesville Riders Honor Guard, a local non-profit dedicated to honoring our veterans by providing military funeral escorts, family flag presentations, 21 gun salutes, and taps. Recently members began a fundraising initiative to provide a place to support veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD.

“This partnership with the Maverick Hockey team is a great way to share our values with our hometown and show support for our local military,” said Patrick L. Dees. “Our mission has always been supporting families, community and country, and we are proud to join UNO in honoring military families and veterans.”

It’s going to be a great night of hockey and patriotic pride at the UNO Mavs Hockey game this weekend. Don’t miss it!
