WoodmenLife Chapters Donated $4.6 Million to Communities in 2016
WoodmenLife and its chapters impacted their communities by donating more than $4.6 million in 2016.
But it’s not just about monetary donations for WoodmenLife members: more than 40,000 volunteers gave nearly 118,000 hours of their time at more than 7,000 community service projects organized by 900 WoodmenLife chapters last year.
Chapters throughout the country volunteered on projects such as raising money and food supplies for local food banks, recognizing and honoring first responders, cleaning community parks, providing scholarships to local high school students, honoring fallen military members, and working with students and the elderly.
Some of these projects were flag presentations to fire houses, schools and other non-profit organizations. As one of the largest suppliers of U.S. flags, second only to the U.S. Government, WoodmenLife members presented more than 172,000 flags in their communities in 2016. These flag presentations led to a milestone in 2016: WoodmenLife has now presented more than 3 million flags since the organization’s Patriotic Program began 70 years ago.
WoodmenLife’s financial stability is at a record highs as well, with assets at just over $10.84 billion as of December 31, 2016. The organization’s surplus ratio (an indication of financial security) is at $113 of assets for every $100 in liabilities.
