Which box will the couple choose to nest in this year? The north or east nest box?
Woodmen Tower falcons Hera and Mintaka are feeling the pressure. These experienced parents know they need to choose the perfect nest and complete renovations before they lay their eggs. Their renovations will include removing old bones and making “scrapes,” which are shallow indentations they scratch out with their talons on the floor of the nest.
It seems like Mintaka, the male (left), has chosen the same nest box as last year, the north nest box. However, it looks like Hera, the female (right) wants to move to the east nest box. Perhaps for the view? They’ll be deciding soon, so…
