Sad day at Woodmen Tower as One of Five Peregrine Falcon Chicks Dies

We are sad to report the death of one of our falcon chicks. The dead chick was spotted Tuesday morning on the webcam that has been monitoring the chicks and their parents. After speaking with Joel Jorgensen, Nongame Bird Program Manager at the NE Game and Parks Commission, it is very difficult to tell the cause of the young chick’s death.

Although it is an upsetting thing to witness, it is not unexpected and is a part of nature. Understanding the cruelty and harshness of nature will give us all a deeper appreciation for these birds when they survive and flourish.
