No Eggs? No Problem.
Many of you are aware of our beloved female tower falcon, Charity, and her untimely passing back in January. Without surprise, this has made mating season for our male falcon, Mintaka, a little abnormal. Falcon followers are also aware that Mintaka has found a new female companion, who is still yet to be identified. Some concerns have been raised to the fact that it’s getting late in the season and we’re still without eggs. Rest assured, everything is ok.
Colder weather generally affects the dates to which birds lay their eggs. This was confirmed by Joel Jorgensen, nongame bird program manager at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Jorgensen says not to worry as there have been a varying range of laying dates in the past with colder temperatures. We will continue to keep you updated as the season progresses.
