Hundreds of Balloons to be Released for Cancer Research
The downtown lunch crowd will have quite the sight on Friday, Aug. 19 as hundreds of balloons will be released atop the WoodmenLife parking garage located at 18th & Farnam.
“We wanted to raise money for cancer research, so we thought a balloon release would be something special,” said Gina McDaniel, an associate at WoodmenLife.
McDaniel and several of her co-workers sold balloons for $1 apiece, and on Friday at 11:30 a.m., 620 balloons in seven different colors (representing different types of cancer) will be released from the top of the parking garage.
All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
