Falcons Survived the Storm

Falcons are survivors.

Last night Omaha and the surrounding areas experienced a storm with 80 mph winds. With power lines and trees knocked down in the area, what about the falcons on the 28th floor of the WoodmenLife Tower?

They’re fine! They huddled together last night and got a little wet but were energetic for their breakfast this morning.

And let’s be honest. They’ve seen worse. Peregrine falcons have survived large-scale DDT poisoning, and they’ve even evolved to better hunt their prey over time.

Next for these four babies (are they toddlers now?) is surviving the banding on Friday morning. They’ll be examined, banded and they’ll have blood drawn. Check out previous banding ceremony videos on our falcon site.
