Falcon Naming 2010

(Omaha, NE) – Woodmen of the World is proud to announce the names of the newest batch of Woodmen Tower falcon chicks. The young peregrines were named in honor of four of the many Native American tribes located in the Great Plains. Their names are:

  • Ponca, male, band #25/C
  • Oto, male, #24/C
  • Kiowa, female, #51/H
  • Dakota, female, #52/H

Woodmen of the World held an internal contest to name the chicks. Everyone in the Woodmen Tower was invited to submit names and vote. The winning name suggestions were submitted by Frank Hindley (Woodmen of the World, Field Operations).

The four young falcons bring the total number of birds hatched by Zeus and Hera to 19.

The falcons have left the nest and will be flying soon. You can catch them on the Tower cameras at falcons.woodmen.org or follow them on Twitter @WoodmenFalcons.
