Bridges Retires from Woodmen of the World Board of Directors
Omaha, Neb. – Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society has announced that James W. Bridges Jr. has retired from its Board of Directors, effective May 1, 2014.
Bridges was elected to the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World in April 1989. In July 1997, Bridges was elected National Treasurer, and in September 2000, he was elected Executive Vice President. He was re-elected to that position by the delegates to the 2001 National Convention with a change in title to Executive Vice President, Fraternal effective August 1, 2001. In January 2008, he stepped down as Executive Vice President, Fraternal, and moved to Nevada. In April 2008, he retired from active Woodmen of the World duty and was re-elected as a National Director.
A native of Rocky Mount, NC, Bridges began his career with Woodmen of the World in 1971 as a Field Representative in Albany, GA. In 1972, he was promoted to Area Manager in Savannah, GA, and in 1975, he became State Manager of North California and North Nevada. Bridges became State Manager of North Louisiana in February 1981, and was promoted to Assistant Field Manager at the Woodmen of the World Home Office in Omaha, NE in December 1981. He was appointed to Assistant Vice President in September 1984, and Vice President and Field Manager in January 1985. He served in that position until he was elected as National Treasurer in July 1997.
Bridges is a member of the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors. He is a Past President of the Fraternal Field Managers’ Association and the California State Fraternal Congress, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Fraternal Congress of America.
James and Joyce Bridges make their home in Las Vegas, NV. They have three sons, James W. Bridges III and wife, Katy; John Clint Bridges; Jeff Bridges and wife, Sara; Jim and Joyce also have three grandchildren: James IV, Jack and Brooke.
